Things you need to know:

We will have PE on Wednesdays and Fridays. PE kit should be in school on these days.

Homework will be given out on Fridays. This will be phonics, spellings and maths. In addition your child will need to bring their book bag to school every day and is expected to read their books at least 3 times each week. This should be recorded in the reading record. 

In the mornings, children may bring a healthy snack for playtime. In the afternoon all children are offered a piece of fruit. Your child should bring water in their own drink bottle teach day.

Please ensure that all uniform and PE Kit is labelled with your child's name to prevent items being lost.

Our Learning:

We use continuous provision in Year 1. This allows our children to learn all aspects of the curriculum through play, alongside more formal teaching and learning. It enables the transition from learning through play in the EYFS to a more formal education to take place more smoothly. 

Each day the children have the opportunity to revisit, consolidate and apply their learning in the classroom areas. For example, colour mixing in the art area, storytelling in the reading area, writing messages to story characters in the writing area, building small worlds for the animals we have learned about in Science in the construction area and much more!
